What if the ICU joint was a reality and now a simple wall panelling application could be added to incorparate a very user friendly construction techinique.
lets say taht timber is the material being used for all the beams and joists and columns in the structure, could a wall paneling be inserted into this structure enabling both a bracing membrane and wall structure to exist in one?
Here is an idea that may work. There would need to be some insulation or sealant used to weather proof the construction, but as a quick assembly/construction technique, that could be implimented for disaster relief or shelter, the options is there. this would also be very low cost to construct, once the initial development of the ICU joint has happened.
A trench would be either routed/cut or chiselled out or manufactured into the centre of the material to the width needed for the walling panel to be inserted and to a depth replicated in the panel.
The walling panel would then have a corner edge machined to fit the trench length and depth, offset from the ICU joint approximately 100mm.
